لويز وينثرثوب يعمل في شركة ديوك وديوك؛ المملوكة للإخوة ماريتمو وراندولف ديوك، الاثنان يتشاحنان على أتفه الأمور حتى لو كان ذلك الأمر هو الطقس، يشعران بالملل ويريدان تجريب أمر جديد. حينما يصطدم وينثرثوب ببيلى راي المتشرد بالشارع ويعتقد أنه يحاول سرقته، تقوم الشرطة بالقبض عليه. يجد الأخوان ديوك الفرصة، فيقرران طرد لويز وتعيين بيلى مكانه ليريا كيف سوف يتصرف كلاهما في حياته الجديدة.
