Jerry Fletcher er en paranoid taxichauffør i New York. Han har masser af teorier om mulige regeringsstyrede sammensværgelser. Han skriver sine teorier i et nyhedsbrev, som han præsenterer for juristen Alice Sutton. Men en dag viser en af hans vanvittige teorier sig at holde stik - men hvilken? Og pludselig er både Alice og Jerry på vild flugt!
