Mary Horowitz ist exzentrisch und schrill - und arbeitet als Kreuzworträtsel-Autorin bei einer Tageszeitung. Als ihre Eltern ihr ein Blind Date organisieren, verliebt sie sich Hals über Kopf in den coolen Kameramann Steve, der jedoch schnell genervt ist und die Flucht ergreift.
