1936年。シカゴの下町で、詐欺師の3人組が通り掛かりの男をヒッカケて金をだまし取る。しかし彼らが手にしたその金は、いつもとは段違いの思わぬ金額だった。悪い予感は的中。その金は、ニューヨークの大物ロネガンの手下が、賭博の上がりをシカゴへ届ける為の金だったのだ。怒った組織は、仲間の一人であるルーサーを殺害する……。
