1950년대 SF 컬트 명작으로 손꼽히는 영화. 저예산으로 만들어진 영화 가운데 수작으로 유명하다. 1988년에 "우주 생명체 블롭"이라는 영화로 리메이크 되기도 했다. 어느 날, 지구에 운석이 떨어지고 그 안에 들어있던 젤리 상태의 생명체가 사람을 녹여먹으며 엄청나게 성장해간다. 괴물 자체가 상당히 공포스럽다.
