'Saint Judy' vertelt het waargebeurde verhaal van Judy Wood, een alleenstaande moeder die naar Los Angèles verhuist om rechten te studeren. Vervolgens staat ze in een belangrijke rechtszaak een Afghaanse immigrant bij die in haar thuisland vervolgd werd voor het openen van een meisjesschool. De immigratiezaak, die terecht komt voor het Hof van Beroep voor het negende circuit, zal uiteindelijk resulteren in een wijziging van het nationale asielbeleid.
